ON behalf of Tavistock Business Association, I would like to express our thanks for the support of over 7,500 Tavistokians and visitors who came to our second annual Food Festival. Some 78 quality food and drink producers from the South West and Tavistock Farmers Market offered a wide and interesting range of produce and cookery demonstrations. Particular thanks go to West Devon Borough Council for the use of the Bedford Car Park, which allowed us to substantially expand the size and scope of this year?s festival. To all those volunteers from the Rotary Club of Tavistock, Tavistock Round Table and Tavistock Business Association who gave their valuable personal time working as marshalls and stewards ? thank you. Your support is invaluable. Special thanks also to Peter Gorton and all his celebrity chefs whose cookery demonstration programme was such a huge success for both adult and kiddy ?foodies?. We are also appreciative of Waitrose, Okehampton, who generously supported Peter with food supplies. By the end of this month we shall have donated £1,000 to the Children?s Hospice South West, £500 to the Rotary Club of Tavistock, £500 to Tavistock Round Table and £100 to St Eustachius Church. We have learnt some valuable lessons this year and in particular we have already organised a substantially larger Park and Ride scheme for our third Food Festival planned for July 29 and 30 2006.
