TELEVISION presenter and author Fern Britton is saddling up for her toughest cycle challenge yet, #Challenge57 — a 1,000 mile cycle ride from John O'Groats to Land's End.

At 57-years-old, Fern will be cycling approximately 57 miles per day and hoping to raise a minimum of £57,000 to support Genesis Research Trust to fund vital medical research to end miscarriage.

She will reach Okehampton and then Tavistock on day 19 of her 21-day challenge and is seeking adventurous people to join her on this epic journey across Britain.

#Challenge57 will take place from May 1 to 21 and you can choose to cycle the whole way or individual sections of approximately 57 miles per day.

The action-packed 1,000 mile route sweeps through some of the UK's most beautiful scenery. It covers the length of the British Isles from the wilds of Scotland through the dramatic landscape of the Lake District, Cotswolds and Dartmoor to the leafy lanes of Cornwall.

Fern said: 'I am proud to be patron of Professor Robert Winston's charity, which raises money to fund research into the health of women and babies.

'I take part in cycling challenges all over the world and this time, I'm embarking on an epic adventure in my home country and want as many people as possible to cycle alongside me for as long as they can.

'Together we can make a difference and help discover why women miscarry and end the heartbreak and tragedy that so many families endure.'

The Genesis Research Trust raises money to help find the causes, and therefore the cures, for many devastating conditions that affect the health of mother and baby. This includes stillbirth, miscarriage, premature birth, brain damage and cancer.
