IT's now less than two years until the London Olympics and the hype is building.
Last week Royal Mail came to the Bath training centre to help launch their new Olympic stamps — even Modern Pentathlon has its own.
The excitement is already mounting and after watching some impressive performances at the European Athletics Championships, things are looking positive for Team GB.
To many people's confusion Modern Pentathlon is separate to athletics and has no relation to Heptathlon or Decathlon other than being a multi discipline event.
Having had our Europeans a few weeks earlier, my respectable performance (though no mark on Jess Ennis's gold) has earned my selection for the World Championships in just over a month.
With motivation high I have decided to give up sweets for the whole of this month (I do actually take my diet seriously but everyone has their weaknesses).
I must admit though this was triggered by the upsetting news that my favourite sweet is currently discontinued because the manufacturers are trying to find a way to produce it without artificial additives.
I don't understand this: sweets are not meant to be good for you. That's what makes them so appealing. I am due to see the dentist in a few days time so I hope any damage will have repaired by then.
But I must be very specific about my abstention.
Fudge is definitely not included, especially since my friend gave me some delicious homemade white chocolate and Baileys fudge on August 1!
