West Devon's Heather Fell, Olympic modern pentathlete silver medalist, writes about life 'on and off' the track.

GOOD news! Selection for the 2010 senior European Championships has been announced and my place confirmed. However, my place at the World Championships is dependant on a good performance at the Europeans, so I have four weeks to get my head down and train.

This week was a chance to test another man from the world of media in one of pentathlon's five sports. Andrew Elliott from the Daily Express is attempting to try every Olympic sport between now and 2012. He didn't quite get the true taste of pentathlon, however, as a sprained ankle left the shooting as his only option. Andrew saw several failed attempts to hit even the outer part of the target. Eventually one scoring hit was achieved and Adam, triumphant, called it a day!

* Over the last few days I have been busy campaigning for votes. I am standing for the British Olympic Association's new Athletes Commission. It's a chance to represent current and future athletes in the decisions the BOA makes with regards to all Olympic issues. Having competed at a high level for some years I want to give something back and feel ready to take on this responsibility. Voting is all this week. Fingers crossed!

* Having a free Sunday in Bath, I headed across the M4 to watch my first ever polo match. I met an old friend who insisted on introducing me to everyone as an 'Olympic athlete.' Normally I find this a bit embarrassing but one of those I met runs the eclectic 'Where's The Fox Hat' who seemed impressed enough to give me one of their signature belts... and when I say belt I mean a sculpture on a belt. If you see me in it you'll know!

Unfortunately I couldn't make it back home this weekend so missed the Tavistock Swimming Club reunion. I can't believe it's been 20 years. I joined about 18 years ago and it has played a crucial part in getting me to where I am today.
