TAVISTOCK Badminton Club's three teams in the Plymouth and District Badminton League the teams have enjoyed some successes.
Tavistock A team play in division 2 and after a difficult first match of the season when they lost to Plymstock lost 2-7 they bounced back to win against Tamarside 5-4.
In the Plymstock match the Tavistock ladies saved the day by winning two of their three rubbers.
The Tamarside match proved to be very close with the outcome in the balance right up until the last rubber. It was down to Julian Cooper and Nicky Gabb to break the deadlock in the final mixed doubles rubber against Mike Hooper and Suzy Gale of Tamarside when they took the rubber and the match.
Tavistock B team play in division 3 and after a convincing 9-0 win against against Torpoint they found out what a 0-9 defeat feels like when they lost to Mayflower Badminton Club.
The third match of the season saw the B team up against Builders Badminton Club. After winning two of the ladies' doubles rubbers Tavistock had to wait until the last of the mixed doubles for their third rubber when Glyn Issacs and Pauline Hoare, who had both been borrowed from the C team for the evening, won against the Builders pairing.
Tavistock C team play in division 4 and have found rubbers difficult to come by. In the first match of the season they played Mayflower B team and found them difficult to score against. After some hard games only Glyn Issacs and Pauline Hoare managed to win a rubber.
In their second league match the C team came up against local side BAT's. Unfortunately for the C team the BAT's team really took the match to them and the C team lost 0 - 9.
With the season only a few weeks old all three of Tavistock teams feel that the best is yet to come particularly as all three have had changes in their line-ups from last season and are still getting used to each other.
