THE Ten Tors Orchestra, conducted by West Devon-based Simon Ible, will be performing an Austrian Masters concert at Plymouth Guildhall on Saturday February 3 at 7.30 pm. Part of the Plymouth Classical Concert Series, the featured soloist is one of Britain's top violinists, Madeleine Mitchell. Madeleine Mitchell is one of Britain's most celebrated violinists, described by the chief music critic of The Times as 'one of Britain's liveliest musical forces', and by BBC Radio 3 as an 'eclectic virtuoso of the violin'. She has performed in over 40 countries as a soloist in a wide repertoire and frequently broadcasts for TV and radio including the BBC Proms. As a recitalist, Madeleine is well known for her imaginative programming and wide repertoire combining classics and contemporary with her particular love of late romantic and early 20th-century works. Her recitals with Andrew Ball have frequently been broadcast by BBC Radio 3, including Live from the Wigmore Hall, St David's Hall Cardiff, BBC Millennium Series, and many festivals. She has given recitals in venues such as Sydney Opera House and Seoul Center for the Arts, toured for the British Council and has frequently performed in London. The Guildhall concert programme comprises Hadyn's Symphony No. 82 in C major 'The Bear', Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 3 in G major, Prokofiev's Cinq Melodies (arr. Joseph Swansen), and Mozart's Symphony No. 41 in C major 'Jupiter'.
