A FASHION show of recycled, remade and redesigned clothing dazzled West Devon residents last week.
As an extension of the 'Change our Carbon Footprint' celebrations, and to raise funds for Chagford's historic community swimming pool set beside the River Teign, a fashion show was organised in the village.
Approximately 30 models from the area graced the catwalk to model a range of outfits which had all been recycled and remade by sustainable clothing store 'Arthur and Martha's'.
The models were styled by a team of professionals led by Angharad Barlow, who trained at the London College of Fashion, Kate Goodwin, dancer and make-up artist, and Becky and Penny from Whites Salon in Chagford.
However, apart from a couple of semi-professional models, those strutting their stuff on the catwalk were all everyday locals from all walks of life and of all shapes and sizes, including the local JP an IT consultant, a professional tennis coach, a midwife and a web designer.
Event organiser and stylist Ms Barlow said: 'Style gurus like Mary "Queen of Shops" Portas are catching on to initiatives like these and showing how much fun and inspiration can come from shopping for bargains, and the huge benefits of buying recycled and restyled clothing are now becoming mainstream.
'It is inspiring to see that here in Devon we are one step ahead of the trend and already have a huge local resource in Arthur and Martha's and the other stores at Proper Job in Chagford.'
