A TAYLOR-MADE fashion show proved a great success and sell out at the Bedford Hotel.
The show was part of the John Taylor Festival, celebrating the 19th century engineer, who was portrayed on the night by namesake John Taylor of Tavistock Forward. His wife and daughters were enacted by Helena Ancil, Ella Carter and Emily Pinner.
More than 60 models exhibited fashion from local shops such as Honey's Wish, Edinburgh Woollen Mill and Tilly Whims plus recycled fashion from Children's Hospice South West and St Luke's Hospice shops.
The hotel provided a cream tea, and changing facilities for models were funded by grants from Tavistock and Villages Initiative and Dartmoor Local Enterprise Action Fund.

The raffle, organised by Vanni Cook and Carol Harrison, made £143.10 and sales from tickets and private donations £528.00, giving a total of £671.10 to be divided between St Luke's Hospice and Children's Hospice Southwest.
The event was organised by Dr Ann Pulsford on behalf of the Friends of the Wharf, who secured grants for the John Taylor Festival. New chairs will be purchased for the Wharf bar area, funded by a local business.
The next event in the John Taylor Festival programme is the creative writing weekend, 'Canals, Copper and Creative writing', at the Bedford Hotel on Saturday and Sunday (November 21 and 22). Free places are available by contacting Vanni Cook at [email protected]">[email protected]
There is also a talk at the Wharf on Monday, November 30 at 2pm by Dr Keith Ryan on 'Ticks on Dartmoor' and poems on 'Animal Magic', followed by tea and cakes. Tickets cost £2.50 and are available from the Wharf.
The final event in the festival is the 'Watermarks' dance event at the Wharf on Thursday, December 10 at 7.30 pm; tickets £5 (£2.50 concessions).
A display of poetry tiles from Tavistock Community Primary School and designs for Tavistock pennies are on display at Tavistock library until the end of the month.
The prize winners were Joe Hilton, Olivia Labrita, Cyrus (TCPS), Laura Meredith, Morgan Scott, Billy (TCPS), Gemma (TCPS), Natalia (TCPS), William Stephenson, James Watts and Aiden (TCPS). Prizes can be collected from Tavistock Library.
