Jewson South Western League
Callington 4
Tavistock 1
THE Lambs' run of poor results continued with this defeat at Marshland. Manager Steve Hart introduced Will Westlake from Bere Alston to sit on the subs bench and Trevor Rodd from the Argyle school of excellence to assist him on the touchline.
The Lambs started brightly with Chris Kiely's shot saved by Wayne Wormwold. Mark Wall saw a header saved and George Pitts' run on goal came to nothing before the home side took the lead on 20 minutes.
Gary Williams' near-post corner was met unchallenged by Gary Smith to plant the ball past Andy Meeds. The Lambs drew level six minutes later when Dean Tongue was crudely fouled on the edge of the area for John Nichols to send the free kick through the wall and beyond Wormwold.
Callington regained the lead in the first minute of the second half when Chris Tilbury and Chris Truscott combined to send Dominic Farris away on goal to beat Meeds with a low drive.
The Lambs fell further behind on 57 minutes to the sucker punch as another header went unchallenged for Matt Hawke to head goalwards for Smith to get the final touch. Tavistock had a chance to pull one back two minutes later but Pitts' stab at the ball saw it fly over the bar from close range.
Farris capped his man of the match award when he robbed Craig Hodge of the ball out on the touchline to cut in and send a shot past Meeds on 77 minutes.

A LACK of communication caused the visitors to kick off with just eight players and the Lambs took full advantage to go two up with manager Craig Smith going through only to see his shot blocked by keeper Terry Hall but Steve Daymond was on hand to find the net.
The Rockies were levelled in a bizarre fashion. Hall's drop kick bounced once to fly over the Lambs keeper into the net. Hero Hall became villain a little later when he was sent off for retaliation and from the resultant penalty deputy Christian Evans brought off a fine save to keep them in the game.
Against the odds they then took the lead with Daley Glanfield running half the length of the field to smash a shot into the Tavistock goal. This stung the Lambs into action with Daymond bringing them back level on the half hour with a stunning free kick.
The Rockies held on until the 65th minute but three goals in a five-minute spell put an end to their challenge. Dave Symons headed home a Steve Brownlow cross and Rob Hawkins beat two defenders to open his account before Smith finished in style after good work from Brownlow.
Daymond completed his hat-trick with the Lambs' sixth after running from the halfway line to send them into the semi-final where they meet Civil Service Sports and Leisure on Saturday April 21 at Brickfields.
