TAVISTOCK's first farmers' market has got the thumbs up from the public.
At Tuesday's council meeting town mayor Judith Williams said the council had received letters from people who had enjoyed it. Members are now awaiting a report from market supervisor Keith Spiers who will outline what effect the event had on the pannier market stallholders.
Deputy mayor Norma Woodcock, who opened the farmers' market, said she thought the event was 'buzzing' and was pleased the day 'went well'.
'I was also pleased to see signs at the stalls inviting people to go to the pannier market as well.'
WestDEN, which organised the farmers' market, were doing an evaluation and Mrs Woodcock said she would be very interested in the results.
Cllr Roy Connelly said he had got a 'positive reaction' from the chamber of commerce.
