ON behalf of all the volunteers at the Oxfam Bookshop in Tavistock, and on behalf of Oxfam itself, I should like to extend thanks to many people for making the bookshop's first birthday party such a success.
The party was at Whitchurch Village Hall in the evening of January 28. The fantastic entertainment on the night was from 1.5 (Jeff and Cheryl) who also oversaw the excellent sound mixing, Mark Barnwell playing jazz and flamenco guitar and who gave a CD as an extra raffle prize, Rob Barrett performance poet, Paul Dobbie local singer and songwriter and Adelia, who came all the way from Teignmouth to sing her own songs and show her video in her very individual style.
The evening would not have been possible without Jeff Sleeman who came out of 'Acoustic Cafe' retirement to host the evening.
Thanks are also due to all others who donated raffle prizes — Charles Steevenson, The Terrace Restaurant, Mansbridge and Balment, Lorraine D'Arcy and Taylor's Restaurant.
Thank you to all the volunteers who helped out and who came to celebrate. The feedback has been wonderful, I am so glad everyone enjoyed themselves so much.
Whitchurch Village Hall was the perfect venue and at the end of it all the party also raised £150 for Oxfam.
Thank you all.
