MID Devon Pony Club junior and mini girls' tetrathlon teams achieved a fantastic double at the area championships last weekend when both teams galloped to convincing victories to complete an astonishing hat-trick of area titles for the club — the senior team won their area championships in July.
The junior team of Rebecca Rowe, Scarlett Geering and Lydia Svensson established a lead of more than 500 points after the first day's shoot and swim; while the mini team of Charlotte Rowe, Ellen Bright, Jessica Mortimore and Lottie Trerise also finished the first day well in the lead.
The second day's ride and run saw both teams consolidating their positions with strong riding performances over a demanding course and some brilliant running
In the junior girls,
Rebecca won the class by 350 points with the best performance in each phase and riding one of only two clear rounds in the class. Scarlett came third, with a pb swim and run and Lydia came sixth with the equal best shoot.
The mini girls saw Charlotte finishing well ahead of the field with an incredible swim that was the best in the class, the best run and a clear round ride. Jessica also rode clear, coming fifth thanks to a pb shoot that was equal best in the class and a pb swim.
Although there was no Mid Devon boys' team, Antony Gerring and William Leech both put up fine performances coming fifth and sixth, respectively. Antony produced a pb swim and William finally came good in the shooting with a great pb score followed by a pb run.
As this is the last tetrathlon of the season, it is a good time to thank all the people who have given up their spare time to help coach these brilliant youngsters to such great success.
