A FAMILY who have recently moved to Australia are looking to recruit a young person from Tavistock to remind them of home.

Linda Critchley, her husband and their three and a half year old twins moved from Tavistock to Perth almost two months ago and took family friend Naomi Reeves, 19 with them.

Now Naomi is returning to England to start university and the Critchleys are looking for a replacement within the next few weeks — but the one condition is they have to be from their home town.

Mrs Critchley, 48, explained: 'Tavistock is where I am from and where my parents live. Even when I was travelling a lot overseas with my job I still owned a property there.

'Australia is a long way from home and there is nothing more comforting than having someone from Tavistock here with us.

'Naomi has been great is amazing with the children and we talk about Tavistock a lot.

'The job is not for a nanny because I don't work — it is basically an au pair position, someone to help me out.

'We are looking for someone to stay for six months so they need to be OK with spending Christmas away from home.'

Mrs Critchley keeps in touch with her parents who run Arthur & Henry Carr Ltd (carpenters and joiners) in Tavistock through Skype.

She said they initially intend to stay in Australia, where her husband is a civil engineer, for two years, during which time they will make the decision whether to stay permanently.'

The family live ten minutes drive from Perth's famous Cottesloe Beach and love the outdoor life.

Applicants must hold a UK passport and be between 18 and 30 to gain a working holiday visa. The Critchleys will cover the cost of flights in addition to food and accommodation and $150 a week.
