THE Jones family have set up a trust fund in the wake of the disaster, sparked by their experiences and a desire to help the area long term. The South Province Action-Sri Lanka fund will specifically target Gaul, the area in the south of Sri Lanka particularly badly affected by the tsunami. Jaime said: ?It?s a long term project of re-building. A lot of charities are focussed on getting aid out there now ? we hope to pick up from there. ?We are speaking to local contacts out there and contacts we have here in the UK and we will concentrate on rehabilitation and maintenance of the children made orphans by the disaster, also assisting existing orphans who have lost their homes. ?The second tier is going to be looking at rebuilding local industries like fishing and farming.? Jaime said the family felt very close to the area and wanted to help people there re-build their lives. She will be returning to Sri Lanka in March to follow up the progress of the trust fund. Donations can be sent to William Lane, of South West Charitable Giving, at Churchtown, Peter Tavy, Devon PL19 9NP. Cheques should be made payable to South Province Action-Sri Lanka.
