THE Sabine Baring-Gould Appreciation Society met at Lewtrenchard Manor Hotel recently, and among the 22 members present were Dr Merriol Almond and other family members who had travelled all the way from America.
Others travelled from as far afield as Yorkshire, as well as many members from across the South West.
Talks were given by members at the meeting which was held on May 9. Dr Warman spoke about the Baring-Gould Diary, the Rev John Hunwicke spoke on various aspects of Lewtrenchard Church and churchwarden Mary Rolfe talked to members about the proposed Heritage Centre, with facilities, to be built adjoining the church.
The Society welcomed four new members during the day. It is hoped that with the growing interest in Baring-Gould, this may become an annual event.
Sybil Tope, treasurer, said it had been a ?very successful and enjoyable day.?
