A PALESTINIAN olive farmer will be giving a presentation in Tavistock as part of a series of county-wide events to celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight.
Riziq Abu Nasser will be visiting the county, along with a dried mango producer from West Africa, to talk about how receiving a fair price for his produce has helped his community. Riziq will visit Tavistock Fairtrade Fair in the Parish Centre on Saturday, March 7.
Local groups and organisations who sell Fairtrade items will be at the fair from 11am to 3pm.
The olive farmer comes from the West Bank, where many people live on less than £1 a day, below the United Nations' poverty line. However, the Palestinian climate produces some of the world's finest olive oil.
Riziq is part of a co-operative that recently started selling its oil through a Fairtrade-registered olive oil wholesaler importing to the UK.
