THE GOOD weather saved itself for the Meavy Oak Fair on Saturday which was deemed to be one of the best in recent years with thousands of pounds raised for charity.
Every penny from the event — the money is still coming in — will be split between local causes in the Burrator Parish such as the scouts, village hall, school and fire station.
The fair started with Maypole dancing from local schoolchildren following a warm-up by the Dartmoor Border Morris dancers and entertainment throughout the afternoon included a dog show, Butter Fingers the Clown, live music, sideshows and a children's disco. A hog roast and barbecue was well supported.
The Burrator Horseshoe run which was part of the event attracted 156 runners.
