HAVING the opportunity to help Tavistock through the new artists' market has been a real roller coaster ride.
At first it took a lot of persuading to get enough artists to be brave enough to try a new venture. This is a regeneration project — the town council, Devon County Council and the chamber of commerce working together to help the town and bring more people to the Bank Square area.
The markets have run on the third Saturday of the month and I have had so many positive and encouraging comments.
I would like to thank everyone who has taken part, helped and supported. I've met some fabulous people, full of energy, enthusiasm and it's thanks to them that this has been a success!
I now feel I have friends who create beautiful subtle recycled wire pieces, sustainable wooden sculpture; picture restorers to fine artists, photographers to printmakers, textiles to ceramics and pottery. A wealth of talent and a breathe of fresh air!
I'd like to thank the Times for their support and during my quest for exposure and press coverage.
We have retreated indoors to Tavistock Pannier Market for two Sunday arts markets, especially for Christmas, on November 27 and December 4 from 10am to 4pm. Entry is free and the café will be open too.
This will be a great opportunity for the public to buy original hand-made pieces direct from the artists. Each Sunday promises an exciting and eclectic mix of original works, including ceramics, textiles, glass, jewellery, fine art, photography and prints. There will be cards and little items too.
Please come and support us and have a lovely time in Tavistock Pannier Market.
