FOUR young members of Horrabridge Badminton Club have enjoyed great success on the court at the Plymouth Badminton tournament.

Tom Cooper, aged 10, Lucy Cooper, 9, David Stuart, 10 and Natasha Ashen, 10, who all attend Lady Modiford's School in Walkhampton, played some superb badminton to make it a real 'net profit' for the Horrabridge club.

Tom and David took the U11s boys' doubles title, with Tom runner-up in the individual competition for the same age group, while Lucy and Natasha teamed up to scoop the U11s girls' doubles while Lucy was runner-up in the individual U11s girls.

To cap their success their performances have earned brother and sister Tom and Lucy Cooper a place in the Devon squad. Lucy won her match in a game against Cornwall. Joining the Devon squad means quite a commitment as young players have to attend 12 training sessions per year in Exeter.

Tom and Lucy's parents Ray and Jackie from Horrabridge play badminton themselves and have encouraged the pair to enjoy the game and help their fitness.

Ray said: 'We are really proud of them and they have worked hard to achieve this standard. Horrabridge Badminton Club and Alan Berry have really helped them and the other children to get to this standard.'
