by EON — extra preliminary round

Ilfracombe 1

Tavistock  4

Tavistock took the lead in the 15th minute through a Mark Conday shot when Mike Southgate's flick put Conday into shoot from a tight angle.

A Lee Coxon run down the Lambs left ended with Southgate sliding in at the far post only to see his shot hit the post. Ilfracombe's goalkeeper Steve Oliver made a great save from a Conday shot after Southgate again set him up.

Five minutes after half time Ilfracombe were level when a free kick by Ricky Marinaro was scooped through his own legs by Tavistock keeper Andy Meeds.

But two minutes later Tavistock were back in front with a great Southgate powerful header into the bottom corner from a Conday centre.

Shortly afterwards Steve Oliver again denied Southgate from close range.

On the 75th minute Adam Carter came off the bench to score with his second touch. Ilfracombe's keeper came racing off his line to beat Jimmy Steer to the ball only to see his clearance go straight to Carter, who controlled the ball and hit a 40 yard shot into an empty net. In the dying minutes Carter added his second and Tavy's fourth to score from close range at the second attempt after Oliver had blocked his first shot.
