TWO extra shopping trips to Newton Abbot and Trago Mills have been laid on by the Tavistock Country Bus this November and December to cope with the extra demand on this popular bus service.

The country bus is a regular, fare-paying service that collects passengers from the edges of Tavistock as well as the outer villages and settlements and brings them into the town to shop and to socialise before returning them to their homes.

In service since 1981, it is run entirely by volunteers and is a life-blood to many people who either do not have their own transport or cannot drive.

As well as this regular weekday service, midweek and Saturday trips are also on offer, travelling to Exeter, Truro, Ivybridge, Dawlish, Newton Abbot and Trago Mills.

Chairman and founder member Douglas Humphrey said: 'The trip to Newton Abbot and Trago has always proved to be hugely popular and so we are putting on these two extra services to help with the Christmas shopping this year.'

The bus will depart from Lawsons on Parkwood Road at 9.30am and will return by 3.30pm on Wednesday, November 19, as well as December 3, 10 and 17.
