WEST Devon and Torridge MP Geoffrey Cox is asking local people and operators of local businesses to attend a Coppicing and Wood Fuel Summit at Roadford Lake.

The event will be hosted by Mr Cox and Shadow Minister for climate change, Gregory Barker.

The aim is to explore the potential role for woodlands in the UK to undergo a renaissance in biodiversity as part of a strategy to tackle climate change.

Those attending will also be able to listen to a variety of guest speakers and take part in sessions to explore the practical aspects of installing domestic and commercial biomass systems, building local supply chains, and to investigate the potential of managing existing woodland or planting new coppice.

Mr Cox said the event would be a 'wonderful' opportunity for anyone interested in biodiversity and wood fuel to get involved, improve their knowledge or contribute to the formation of policy in the area.

The event will be on May 5 from 9am to 12:45pm and light refreshments will be provided. Call 01237 459001 if you would like to register to attend.
