OPPORTUNITIES for community and voluntary groups in West Devon to learn how to access European funding are available at two workshops coming up.
West Devon Environmental Network's (WestDEN) Europe in Rural Action decided last year that the time was ripe for voluntary and community-based organisations to have a chance of getting some of the money which had been widely talked about in the media.
The Great Project Safari, which aims to equip groups and small businesses with the skills they need to access European funding particularly European Social Fund Objective 3, was launched in Chagford in November and since then four workshops have taken place.
The next workshops are in Bere Alston on May 13 and Okehampton on June 10.
Topics include researching and justifying the need, business plans and documents and filling in the application form.
Each workshop features an outside speaker, invited because of their expertise, as well as an update on all the latest news by WestDEN's in house staff.
There have been groups and individuals from a plethora of organisations attending the safari, covering all manner of activities. So if you are buckling under the strain of funding your group or have an idea for a project but do not know where to start then join the safari and let the experts take some of the stress out of it for you.
The project's staff will bring anyone who has missed previous sessions up to speed. Each safari is on a Saturday morning and creche facilities and lunch are provided . The event is supported by the European Social Fund and is free of charge.
