TRACTORS, quad bikes and tools were just some of the items given special security markings at a recent Rural Crime Prevention Event at Hatherleigh Market.
Farmers, landowners, local businesses and residents turned out to get advice and information on how to protect their property at the event on Thursday, March 14.
It was organised by West Devon Borough Council, the Police and NFU Mutual, following a number of recent crimes in rural West Devon.
National security marking company Datatag were represented through their local agent, Robert Cole Agricultural Engineers.
Datatag use hi-tech marking techniques on large equipment which has resulted in the safe return of stolen goods.
Farmers and landowners were given the opportunity to have their property marked at reduced rates.
NFU Mutual also offer reduced insurance premiums for people who have their property marked in this way.
Representatives from a variety of other agencies, including the fire and rescue service, were also there to offer community safety advice specifically for people living in rural areas.
