REFERENCE the article (October 12) concerning crime figures ? to some they may present a comforting picture but they are simply figures which, as we all know, do not always tell the true story. In the last ten months alone I have been subject of three crimes of common assualt (including one attempted robbery) and on the two occasions that I resorted to dialling ?999? the Police failed to arrive. To my knowledge none of my ?crimes? was made the subject of a crime report or even properly looked into. I endeavour to lead a law abiding, sober lifestyle and imagine if this is happening to me then it must be happening to others ? multiply the crime figures by at least three, if not more, and you will probably get a clearer less comforting picture of the real state of affairs.
