THE first art exhibition and sale to be held by St John's Church in Horrabridge will take place later this month.

The event, from Friday, September 28 to Sunday, September 30, is being organised by the Friends of St John's to raise funds for refurbishments at the church.

Organisers are inviting local residents to enter exhibits in five categories: paintings, drawings, crafts, photographs and 3D work such as sculptures.

There will be sections for children up to eleven, aged 12 to 18 and for adults.

John Howells, chairman of the Friends, said: 'We're expecting a wide range of exhibits, many of which will be available to buy.

'Our initial projects with the church are installing new kitchen facilities and replacing pews with more comfortable chairs.

'We are really looking forward to this event and we're grateful to Graham Woollven for his help in setting up this event.'

Exhibits can be brought to the church on September 22, and entrants should provide their name, age, contact details, exhibit title and the price if it is to be offered for sale. A commission will be taken to raise funds for the church.

Exhibitors needing help to take their work to the church should call Graham Woollven on 07900 457777. Children can take their exhibits to Horrabridge Primary School from September 24 to 26. Entry to the exhibition will be £1 for adults, children free.

Refreshments will be available.
