MORE than 30 of Tavistock’s most talented young artists are to exhibit their work in the town this week.

‘My Dartmoor’, the first exhibition of its kind in Tavistock, is a joint presentation by Tavistock Rotary and Tavistock Town Council. It provides a showcase for the art of Year 5 pupils of Tavistock’s four primary schools, mentored by Whitchurch artist Annette Sharpe.

The free exhibition will take place at Butchers’ Hall from noon to 6pm on June 13, 14 and 15 and from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, June 16.

Graham Parker, president of Tavistock Rotary, said: ‘This is one of those great ideas that has really taken off.

‘The children have produced excellent artwork and, perhaps the most important thing of all, they have enjoyed the experience. We sincerely thank everyone who has helped us to mount the exhibition — the town council, Tavistock Picture Framing Gallery, Hogs Bottom Garden Delights, Xpressions and Tesco and of course the schools and the children themselves. It would be great to see people in large numbers at the exhibition. It really is worth seeing!’
