DUO Ten String returns to the Wharf, at Tavistock, tomorrow, Friday at 7.30pm.
This lively and unusual duo have had an enthusiastic response to their concerts by audiences, who are fascinated by the amazing possibilities of the classical guitar and cello together; a wonderful combination of beautiful instruments, warm and exciting sounds performed by two skilled and vibrant musicians.
Here is an ideal partnership combining the lustrous beauty of the cello?s sustained sound with the haunting delicacy and infinite flexibility of the classical guitar.
Angela Wunnam and Barbara Degener play a repertoire drawn from a wide range of styles ? classical from the Renaissance to contemporary, including music of European, Eastern European, Spanish, Middle Eastern and South American origin.
Barbara studied the cello in Germany with Wolfgang Borggrefe, and Heinrich Schiff, followed by William Pleeth (UK), Janos Starker (USA), Uzi Wiesel (Israel) and the Amadeus Quartet. She has given concerts all over Europe and has made an extensive range of recordings. She has extended her musical activities into composing and improvising for films, theatre and television.
Angela originally studied the guitar with George Zarb of the London College of Music and started performing at an early stage. During the last 20 years she has performed regularly across Europe and in USA and Canada. She performs with the Tamar Classical Guitar Quintet, playing in venues throughout the South West and recently had a successful tour in Germany, appearing on German television. She also performs with Barry Albrighton in the Dartmoor Classical Guitar Duo.
For this concert the duo will be giving an evening of passionate and exciting music from Spain, South-America and Jewish Eastern Europe; warm music for a summer evening. So join them on their musical journey.
