PHYSICS teacher and director of the Callington Space Centre Mike Grocott has recently been appointed to the newly-formed National Space Centre.
Mr Grocott and the team at the centre are already the European Space Agency's educational representative for the South West.
The Callington community college teacher also represents the UK's Space Agency in its work with the exciting Goonhilly Space Science Project being developed in the South West.
Mr Grocott's role will involve him working with leading space scientists from around the country developing lectures and presentations to be delivered to students and teachers in colleges.
The UK is a world leader in satellite and space related technologies, a sector of the economy that is still growing despite the economic recession.
Mr Grocott will shortly fly to Texas where he will present at the Space Explorers Education Conference at the Johnson Space Centre, Houston.
