THE outstanding young pianist, Jill Morton, will give a recital next Wednesday, February 12, for this season?s Kelly College Concert Society programme.
Her concert includes works by Haydn, Mendelssohn, Fauré and Liszt and is sponsored by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust, which supports musicians of exceptional ability.
Jill was born near Glasgow and studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. While there, she gained the prestigious Concert Recital Diploma (Premier Prix). She also won a scholarship to study in France. Jill made her professional debut at an early age and has performed extensively throughout the country as a concerto soloist, recitalist and chamber musician.
Among the works Jill will play are Haydn?s Sonata in C (Hob XVI), Fauré?s Barcarolle in G flat and Mendelssohn?s Rondo Capriccioso as well as Liszt?s Mephisto Waltz No 1 and a selection of Shostakovich Preludes.
The concert begins at 7.45pm in the Melvin Hall, Kelly College, Tavistock. Tickets at the door are £8 (£6 concessions). Under 18-year-olds accompanied by an adult are admitted free.
