STUDENTS and staff at Tavistock College are celebrating after achieving big improvements in recent maths and science SATS results. This year students have notched up some outstanding individual successes, with some raising three levels from their primary school key stage 2 results. One student, Tom, gained a level 8 for maths and 7 for science, the highest grade possible. He said: ?I am thrilled. It has given me more confidence to face my GCSEs. I am not so nervous about them now.? Maths results were higher across the full ability range with 83% achieving level 5 or above. A fantastic 32% gained level 7 or 8 which was unprecedented and 20% more students gained a level 6 this year. Science results also greatly improved, with a similar 20% increase, 17% of students gaining level 7.
