TAVISTOCK pentathlete Heather Fell jetted off to Egypt yesterday (Wednesday) to compete for Britain as part of a six-strong team.

Heather came fifth at the women's open pentathlon held at Bath University on March 3, her 18th birthday, to qualify for the event.

Fellow Tavistock pentathlete, Olympic medallist Kate Allenby was also competing, but due to injury she only competed in the shooting and the run. The riding event was, anyway, cancelled because of the foot and mouth crisis.

Heather, an A-level student at Kelly College, will return to West Devon next Monday, but will not be staying long before heading to Port Elizabeth in South Africa on

April 4.

As winner of the schools national biathlon championship last October, she will again be donning the British tracksuit for an international 'Aquathon' — a 2.5-km run twice and a 1,000m swim.
