KELLY College swimmers increase their medal haul at the International Paralympic Committee Swimming European Championships in Reykjavik.

Louise Watkin won her fourth medal in the 400m freestyle – a second silver to add to her her gold medals and one silver medal. Hot on her heels in the same race was Kelly's Lauren Steadman who won bronze - her first European medal.

Louise Watkin, aged 17 won a gold in the women's 200m SM9; silver in the women's 100m breaststroke SB9 in a new British record; gold in the women's four x 100m medley relay in a new world record and a silver in the women's 400m freestyle S9.

Louise Watkin is in the upper sixth at Kelly College in the final year of a BTEC National Diploma in Sport (performance and excellence). There was more success for Kelly with Lauren Steadman when in the women's 200m individual medley SM9 swam to fifth place before going onto a superb bronze in the women's 400m freestyle S9.

Lauren Steadman, 16, is in the lower sixth at Kelly College and studying maths, physical education, physics and religious studies.

Old Kelleian, Claire Cashmore, was also in action in Iceland. She won bronze in the women's 100m breaststroke SB8 and a gold, and a new world record, in the women's four x 100m medley relay.
