LIBERAL Democrat Graham Watson has topped his party?s poll to fight the next European elections for the South West. Mr Watson, who is already a Euro MP, was given 70% of first preference votes to lead the party?s list of candidates in the run up to the 2009 elections. Kay Barnard and Robin Teverson were elected in second and third places ? Mr Teverson was Euro MP for Cornwall under the old constituency boundaries. Speaking after the poll, Mr Watson said: ?I am pleased that members have given me their support and I look forward to carrying forward the party?s standard into the next European election. ?I will do all I can to campaign vigorously and vocally to increase our party?s share of the vote.?
