WHEN I first came to Tavistock one of the major attractions, to me, was the beautiful Meadows park.

The wonderful peace and tranquility, the incredible, large mature trees, the prolific ducks and other birds and the traditional bowls and tennis being played, all contributed to a really unique atmosphere.

I thought what a lovely addition to the town and how lucky Tavistock was to have such a feature right in the middle of town.

However, with the advent of the exercise contraptions and now the proposed BMX track, the whole ethos of the Meadows will be gone for good.

The BMX track will create noise and disruption and will not, as claimed, bring any useful business to the town. I feel really sad about the lovely park being ruined in the name of progress.
