A COUPLE who run a unique farm at Northlew brought alongs some of their feathered friends to the Okehampton Show.
Ian and Gillian Dixon run South Yeo Farm East. The farm has been in the family for three generations. With 93 acres of pasture, including ten acres of native bluebell woodland and a mile of wild fishing on the River Lew, the couple try to farm in a way that minimises impact on the environment, and aim to reinstate habitats for wildlife where possible.
The couple also rear breed animals, including 30 rare and traditional poultry breeds, Large Black pigs, Balwen sheep and other breeds of sheep, and Shorthorns and Riggit Galloways. The couple also offer training courses to people wishing to rear their own animals.
Sharing a stand with Ian and Gillian was Piers Butt, who works at the farm making coops, hutches and maintaining the farm barns.
