AUDIENCE members will probably be singing along to the much loved theme tune of Laurel and Hardy's 'Way Out West' at Walkhampton Memorial Hall on Saturday April 28 at 7.30pm. Many people know 'The Trail of the Lonesome Pine', if not from this film then from the infamous Monty Python sketch, which featured Canadian Mounties in a very unexpected way. The film however is older and a great classic and in much better taste. Most people are familiar with Laurel and Hardy's comedy duo, the little man and the big man, fat and thin, silly and serious, who bounce off each other, quite literally at times. This is a rare opportunity to see them on a large screen with full surround sound and digital quality images so that the experience is quite different to seeing them on the TV. Their humour is universal and still appreciated today. It is from another age, of innocence, less cynical than much of today's humour and delightful for all ages to enjoy together. This will be a lovely family evening, doors open at 7pm and light refreshments are included in the ticket prices of £5 Adult, £4 Concessions, £3 Child and £15 for a family of four. They are available from Dousland Post Office, Yelverton Stores or from the Reverend Jill Locock on 01822 854098. There may some tickets on the door, it's worth a try! This film has been arranged through Villages in Action's touring 'Get the Picture' project which brings digital quality films to rural venues in Devon.
