Tavistock AFC 1

Falmouth Town 2

THE Lambs season ended on a low when they lost their final game against Falmouth at Langsford Park.

The past four weeks has really been a disappointment, and poor results has meant that the challenge for third place ending with the team finishing fifth place in the league table.

The Lambs started well and Shane Krac twice shot over the bar when well placed Falmouth came more into the game and took the lead in the 20th minute when the Lambs defence were caught napping, as Falmouth took a quick free kick by Jimmy Alexander as Josh Sims raced into the area to fire past the advancing Andy Meeds. Seven minutes later it was Falmouth increased their lead as Sims headed the ball back across goal for Liam Eddy to head home.

The Lambs replied within a minute, Shane Krac driving his free kick low across the face of the Falmouth goal for Michael Landricombe to drive into the net from three yards out.

In the second half the Lambs had the greater share of possession, and controlled the game for periods, but once again it was the lack of incisiveness in and around the penalty area that cost them at least a share of the points. In one attack Adam Carter hit the cross bar, the rebound then hit the upright and a third attempt by Krac was blocked by a Falmouth defender and the ball was cleared.

The Lambs continued to attack pushing more and more men forward which resulted in Falmouth being very dangerous on the break. Once again Andy Meeds who was making his 700th appearance was in fine form and dealt admirably with any threat on his goal.

The season for the first team is now over and it is time to reflect and no doubt manager Ian Southcott will be looking to improve the squad in order to make another challenge next year.

Football is not over at Langsford Park as the reserve team have three home games to play.

l On Saturday Tavistock Reserves are away to Morwenstow, kick-off 3 pm.
