TAVISTOCK scored quickly after a forwards' skirmish. From a resultant scrum, K Sprangle, the Tavistock hooker, won the ball fed it to the backs for R Blandford, to score wide out on the right.
Devonport came back strongly and after a further eight minutes, Tavistock found themselves 5-17 down to three tries from Ed Neeves, Sam Goss and Connor Wallis-Sims.
Tavistock really had not done a lot wrong but Devonport's speed out-manouvered the home defence. Tavistock responded with some exciting plays of their own, moving the ball to the wings, where A Mason, made excellent ground on numerous occasions. The forwards also did themselves proud, against a bigger pack, most noteably D Connor and J Langton.
It is of great credit to the Tavistock team, that their level of commitment and desire for each other culminated in probably there best performance of the season so far.
In the second half, Tavistock lifted their game and should have had more rewards for their superb effort. Tavistock scored a further try by W Coulton and had a touch down by R Blandford. Devonport scored two more tries.
