A TAVISTOCK supermarket launched its Charity of the Year campaign last week with the store's youngest and oldest employees dropping the first pound in the bucket. Morrisons kicked of its partnership with Help the Aged and ChildLine last Wednesday with employees Margaret Bryant, 76, and Louise Cook, 17. The new partnership joins two of the UK's leading charities and aims to raise vital funds to help combat abuse and neglect among two groups in society; children and older people, under the theme of 'Protecting Generations for Generations'. Morrisons hopes to raise more than £1.5-million as part of the campaign, which lasts until the end of the year. Andy Shepherd, store general manager, said: 'We're really happy to be working with such a great cause, our choice for charity of the year has generated great sympathy from our colleagues. 'In addition to a wide range of colleague fundraising activity, there will be many events and special products appearing in store over the coming months.' Esther Rantzen, president and founder of ChildLine and an ambassador for Help the Aged, said: 'With the support of Morrisons, ChildLine and Help the Aged will be able to help thousands of children and older people who may be in pain or distress.'
