A COMPETITION aimed at celebrating the best young employee in the Tavistock area is being run once again by the town's Rotary Club.

The aim of the Rotary Young Employee of the Year is to encourage young people to take an interest in their work and show the public that young people have a great deal of merit.

Alan Jones, Rotary Club president, said: 'My message to employers is that we know there are a lot of good youngsters in the Tavistock area who can do an excellent job. This is your chance to give them a little bit of recognition and encouragement.'

Candidates for the award should be under 25 years of age — the Club requires a letter from the employer nominating their candidate, who will attend a brief interview.

The winner will receive a prize of £100.

No-one will go away empty-handed however, as all candidates will receive a certificate.

Any business who wishes to nominate a candidate for the Young Employee of the Year should write to Vic Gardner at Newhouse Farm, Bere Alston, Yelverton, Devon PL20 7ED. Nominations must be received by October 8.
