Tavistock Ladies 1st XI 2
Plymouth and Marjons 2nd XI 2
THIS game opened with Tavistock on the attack through the strong play of Emma White and Laura Stapleton. The attack was taken into the D where Jo Gaspar and Lisa Butler battled to find space and take strikes at the keeper.
Steph Mills and Fiona Dunn put up the defence which prevented Marjons from entering the D. Tavistock were making too many mistakes and through these Marjons took the advantage.
Marjons entered the D and took a shot at goalkeeper Soozi Bags, who was unable to deflect the ball.
A good team talk from captain Fiona Dunn picked up the team?s spirits and the second half saw a more determined Tavistock. Laura Armstrong had an excellent game in the second half and it was from a good ball in from Gaspar that she equalised.
Tavistock kept firm with their attack and Gill Court, White and Armstrong kept the ball in the attacking area. Tavistock were working as a team and Butler, when no easy shot was there for her on goal, dropped the ball out for Mills who could re-build the attack in the D. Gaspar scored the second as the forwards were goal hungry.
Zoe Viggers produced some good block tackles on the sideline in order to break down the attack. The opposition equalised with only four minutes to go.
Player of the match: Emma White.
This week Tavistock play their last league match of the season at Okehampton. 2.30pm push-back.
