IT was another busy weekend for 12 year old Tavistock triathlete Emily Attfield.

On May 21 Emily competed in the Saltash Aquathlon — the race consisted of a 200m swim followed by a 2.5km run around the streets of the town.  Emily finished first for the second year in succession winning by four minutes in a time of 13mins 42sec.

The following day Emily travelled to Sir Thomas Rich School in Gloucestershire for Tri Team Gloucester's children's triathlon.  After the 300m swim Emily was in second spot but a big effort in the cycle element of the race soon saw her in first place; however, on the sixth and final lap she was overhauled by another athlete.

The final 2,400m run saw her pass her rival and go on to win in a time of 30mins 39sec.  This race forms part of the South West children's triathlon series which Emily is currently leading after three races. Emily is a member of TAC and is supported by Certini's of Saltash.
