AFTER three successive victories confidence was high among the Kelly College team as they travelled to Shebbear College.
Kelly's captain Jonathan Elliott was invited to bat by the opposing captain in this 30 over contest. As the Kelly batsman tried to accelerate the scoring wickets fell, and by the half way stage they only had 46-3. Elliott, however, was keeping one end going whilst first Alex Sivyer then Ben Williams and Chris Monger punished the tiring bowlers.
At the close of the innings Kelly had reached 148 — Elliott with 44 not out and Monger on 28 not out.
In reply Shebbear found scoring runs just as difficult as Kelly had and after their 30 over's reached 119-8 ensuring a Kelly win by 19 runs.
The pick of the Kelly bowlers was Ben Williams with three wickets well supported by Elliott, Sivyer and Henry Kisby.
