Belstone v Spreyton
IN the first Buckley Cup Twenty 20 game of the season at Rew Meadow, Spreyton easily contained Belstone to record a 47 run victory.
Richie Wilkinson began Spreyton's innings with a flourish, hitting a four and a six in the first over.
At 49 for five in the ninth over the game was evenly balanced, with David Binns taking three of these wickets for 11 runs in a fine spell of left-arm pace.
Amit (25 retired), Jacob Griffiths (20) and Chris Filor (18 not out) batted fluently in the lower order to hurry the score on to 126 for eight after the 20 overs.
Spreyton quickly put the lid on the Belstone scoring rate with economical spells from Charles Hedley-Dent (4-0-11-2), Tony Niven (2-0-4-1) and Amit (4-0-11-2) so that the result was hardly in doubt, although the innings enabled youngsters Corey Burns (16), Ryan Dennis (8) and Binns (25 retired) to spend time in the middle and play some elegant strokes.
