A COLLECTION of Edwardian drawings by Eleanor Grace Scarborough will return to Devon this weekend to be exhibited in Tavistock in aid of the charity Walking With the Wounded.

Discovered in an attic and not seen for 100 years, these drawings came to light ten years ago heaped in a corner of an Exeter action house. In danger of being thumbed through to destruction and separated forever, the drawings survived to be treasured again.

Tracing their history has revealed that Eleanor Grace Scarborough was born in 1881 in Crouch End, London and was among some of the first women to exhibit at the Royal Academy in 1905 and 1917 and with the Society of Women Artists 1913-1914. A small glimpse into the life of this artist can be seen among her drawings and other effects found in her portfolio.

These early 20th century life drawings have been lovingly restored and framed and will be displayed to the public to raise money for wounded soldiers.

The exhibition will take place at Tavistock Parish Church Centre on Saturday and Sunday, March 11 and 12, from 10am to 5pm.
