EVERY year Tavistock Round Table donates Christmas trees to the local schools of Tavistock and every year it holds a competition for the best-dressed tree — the trees are judged on creativity, theme and, most importantly, fun!

This year the group members found themselves in an unusual situation, given the high standards. They agreed, for the first time ever, there would be two winners. Therefore donations of £100 were given to both Mary Tavy and Brentor Community Primary School and Tavistock Community Primary and Nursery School towards books for their school libraries.

Chairman Neal Taynton-Young said: ‘We were amazed at the standard of artistry and fun and it’s getting tougher to judge each year.

‘We were delighted that we could offer each school £100 and look forward to the next Christmas tree competition!’
