YEAR 4 pupils at Okehampton Primary School visited the Harvest Vegetable Shop in Red Lion Yard on October 22 as part of National Apple Day.

Children were shown different varieties of organic local apples that are on sale in the shop. They also helped prepare apples for pressing, using at least 12 different varieties of apple collected and donated by local residents.

Each class made sufficient fresh juice for everybody to try some, with further juice being sold after school at an apple-based cake and juice table top sale.

A large scale street map of Okehampton was also on display for residents to markwhere their apple trees were with a view to plotting as many local apple trees as possible.
