TAVISTOCK College is celebrating another year of top marks following the A-level results last week.
Sixth form students performed ‘exceptionally’ well overall with many successes in both academic and vocational courses. Many students met or exceeded their offers from their chosen universities across the UK. These include top Russell Group universities.
The college gained a pleasing number of A* and A grades across a range of subjects.
More students than ever before gained three As and three A*s. One of the top performing students was head boy Cyrus Larcombe Moore who gained A grades in English literature and history alongside a Distinction* in BTEC performing arts. This has secured his place at Oxford University.
Other top performing students included Errikos Kokolakis-Harrison with two As and a B; Martha Peach, three As and Abbie O’Donoghue with two As and a B.
The Times met with some students just after opening their results.
Lydia Marks achieved a B in photography and two merits. She said: ‘I was hoping to get a B so I’m pleased with my results. I haven’t got any plans what to do next. I may look into an apprenticeship or volunteering.’
Eric Moore said: ‘I was really pleased with my results. I’m going to SOAS in London to study music and philosophy.’
Sarah Jones, principal, said: ‘The grades gained this year are a reflection of the hard work and commitment shown by the students.
‘I am immensely proud of them all. It was not an easy journey for some, but the results speak for themselves.
‘Year 13 were a credit to their college and the teachers are delighted with the outcomes from such a wonderful group of students. We all wish our students the best of luck for a successful future in whatever they choose to do.’
