. . . when your Mum is a teacher by Molly Hunt (Year 7)

I THOUGHT that being home schooled was going to be amazing but the reality is not so much when your mum is a teacher who works at the same school as you.

Everyone was so excited not to be going to school; I was just scared that I would be doing more work than I would actually do at school.

I woke up on the first morning and thought to myself that this harrowing virus was all just a dream. I was wrong.

My mum told me to look on Class Charts (an app that shows us our homework) and I only had a few pieces of work. I thought I had got lucky, but no... it was soon streaming in.

So 10am to 11:45am was usual school work, noon virtual aquarium, 1pm history tour and 2pm my science lesson.

My mum was out of her mind and lunch was postponed until we had finished our work.

It turned out that the aquarium and history tour was not that bad but the science lesson was tough.

Recently we had found a new running route up to ‘the Pimple’ from our house so we had to do that in the afternoon.

It was usually a 6.42 mile run but at least we only had to do an hour of it — one silver lining!

We have been so lucky because of the sun but the last few days it has rained a bit. We inflated our blow up boat and filled it up with water in the garden.

Plus, we also had lots of games of viking cubes. It is basically a game when you throw logs of wood around to try and hit another piece of wood. It is fun.

The best thing about lockdown is that me and my cousin have been FaceTiming every day although it would be better in real life.

My brothers and I have been going outside to play basketball a lot. The oldest one is really scary though, because he is 6 foot 4.

I am looking forward to the end of lockdown because I can see my friends and family and be able to leave the house.
